FACEMASK REVIEW: Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask – Bija

This is my first time using an Innisfree facemask, and I chose bija after reading that this mask is great for helping achieve clear skin.

Bija, an ingredient extracted from the pressed oil of Torreya Nucifera seeds, is known for its soothing and calming properties. The Torreya Nucifera tree, also known as kaya, Japanese Torreya or Japanese Nutmeg-yew is native to Southern Japan and to Jeju Island, off the coast of South Korea (Thanks Wikipedia!).

I have heard of Innisfree’s bija skincare line, which spotlights bija to provide intensive soothing, calming and care to troubled skin – something on my to-try list for the future. I was immediately attracted to this mask, as I am attracted to any soothing and calming ingredient as one of my main skin concerns are to help soothe breakouts, redness and irritation.

The other Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Masks come in the following:

  • Acai Berry – tightening and smoothing
  • Aloe – moisturizing and soothing
  • Bamboo – moisturizing
  • Bija – helping clear skin
  • Blackberry – firming and reducing wrinkles
  • Cucumber – moisturizing
  • Green Tea – deep hydration
  • Kiwi – moisturizing and helping clear skin
  • Lime – brightening
  • Manuka Honey – intensive moisture
  • Pomegranate – firming and radiance, helps reduce wrinkles
  • Rose – smoothing and helping radiant skin
  • Rice – general hydrating
  • Shea Butter – deep hydration
  • Strawberry – brightening
  • Tea Tree – helping clear skin
Nice sturdy packaging!

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Torreya Nucifera Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Orchid Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Just in the ingredient list you can see that this is jam-packed with floral and fruity extracts; grapefruit, satsuma mandarin, aloe juice, orchid extract, green tea leaf extract, Japanese camellia and cactus extract! The properties of these added extracts all help to soothe, calm, brighten and revitalize the complexion.

Directions say to leave it on for 10-20 minutes.

The scent of the mask serum once you open it is a very light fresh scent, like you’re stepping into a dewy woodland forest – but really, I can’t pinpoint an exact scent for this one, it just smells pleasantly fresh.

The mask itself comes folded and didn’t feel like it would rip as I was unfolding it. I think it was just the right thickness and size, and it fit my face absolutely perfectly! I love that it has a nose flap too, to fit a variety of different face types.

I used this right as my face was on the verge of breaking out with some angry red pimples, so I was delighted to see that once I removed the mask 20 minutes later, the redness was reduced significantly and it essentially stopped the breakout from happening! Even better, the next morning the pimples just ceased completely, the redness totally gone and no traces of where they were coming out.

After reading other peoples’ thoughts on this product, I’ve come to the consensus that it works wonders if you are breaking out or about to breakout – it’s just so calming and soothing!

The serum itself didn’t feel sticky at all once I removed the mask, and after I patted the remaining product onto my face it dried down quickly which is a great plus. My face felt hydrated and soothed, great for calming my irritated skin.

The Verdict

Just the fact that this PREVENTED a breakout from happening instantly makes this one of my favourite facemasks I’ve ever used! This is something I need to have on hand to prevent breakouts in case of an emergency.

This is a perfect 5/5 rating just for its preventative properties, and generally for those days when your skin is just feeling down, irritated or angry.

I highly recommend trying this product for it’s soothing properties and especially for those with troubled skin! Will have to stock up on these myself! 🙂
