With extract of Calendula as the star ingredient, this toner is all about gentle soothing, calming and moisturizing the skin. The hand-inserted floating calendula petals inside add to the luxurious feel of this product…

Ingredients

On the Kiehl’s website, the top three ingredients are highlighted as Allantoin, which is described as a “bacteria inhibitor”, with soothing properties to help reduce inflammation, Calendula, also known for its soothing properties especially in oily skin types and finally Burdock root, which is alleged to “help improve dry skin”.

Ingredient List: Aqua/ Water, Propylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Arctium Lappa Extract/Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Allantoin, Hedera Helix Extract – Ivy Leaf/Stem Extract, Althea Officinalis/Althea Officinalis Root Extract.

As you can see, I’ve used up only about a quarter of the bottle after four months of use – which is honestly spectacular considering this is a pricier product! This packaging is just lovely with the design, which showcases the super pretty petals of calendula lovingly hand-placed, and it is also sturdy and not prone to breakage!

Thoughts

In my reviews I always always use the product for at least a month before I feel like I can review it – it’s only fair as I believe there’s no such thing as an over-night miracle product that will instantly give you the dewy glow you’ve been searching for. It’s all about patience and consistency and after using only this toner for four months now, I can definitely speak for it’s soothing, calming and hydrating properties.

It’s a very lightweight formula with a nice, subtle herbal scent – almost like tea. But it’s not too strong and it doesn’t linger. This doesn’t make my face feel tight or dry upon application, instead my skin feels smoothed out, softer and plumped up with hydration.

See the calendula petals swirling around inside!

Lately I’ve been trying the Korean 7-skin method (starting with 3 layers only to see if it makes a difference), and just WOW! This toner, when layered multiple times makes my skin feel so plump and smooth and BRIGHT! It gives me an immediate glowy feel and texture to my face all while soothing and calming the areas of redness on my face after cleansing.

The alcohol-free aspect to this toner is fantastic for those with sensitive skin; it’s actually perfect for those easily prone to irritation or breakouts as the calming and soothing effects of this toner will help smooth and plump up your skin. It’s a low-risk of irritation product given the simplicity of the ingredients.

It’s an excellent base for the rest of my skincare routine – I feel like it helps my skin really absorb the layers of moisturizer I put on afterwards and is brilliant for those with concerns of dryness or oiliness. If you are looking to repair a damaged moisture barrier then this product is for YOU.

The texture of the toner is very watery, but it dries on very quickly on your face (within a 15-20 seconds) which is a big plus. This has prevented a lot of breakouts for me, and has helped so much with just evening out my complexion and softening my skin.

Amazing toner with a herbal extract focus!

The Verdict…

I rate this toner a 5/5 – something I will definitely repurchase again in the future for the simple, refreshing formula and promising star ingredients! If you have dry, oily or sensitive skin then this is the toner for you – it is definitely worth it for the price as it will last you so long!
